Corner Quest- version 1.0 released

Intro to CORNER QUEST:

This little game has served as a pretty robust summer project for me.  It's a result of tireless work from mid-May to the end of August this year. Although I haven't made very many games yet, Corner Quest is by far the largest project I've tackled, and it has come a long way.

Inspiration for the design and mechanics of the game come from a variety of places. The turn-based combat is a blend of Dragon Quest, Pokemon, and Final Fantasy all in one. The design of the levels and the grid-based movement draws from things like Settlers of Catan, Chess, and Civilization. The layout of the in-game UI is heavily inspired by titles like the 1991 game Eye of the Beholder and other early RPGs like it.

Implementing fully functional RPG systems like a player inventory, equipment system, currency, shops, and upgrades was only possible with the help of excellent Unity tutorials from other RPG enthusiasts. That being said, my skills using Unity were tested and honed in order to edit and weave all these abstract systems into a complete project of my own. Making systems work together nicely can be a gnarly process, but I suppose that is a beast all RPG developers must tackle!

Corner Quest aspires to be simple, fun, and stylish, and I hope that the work I've put in has brought it near that goal.

Although the game is fully working and loaded with content to explore, there is a good deal more planned for the future, and, depending on how busy I am in the coming months, I plan to return to developing Corner Quest soon. In the meantime, I sincerely hope you enjoy!
